The 2015 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru does not quite convey the same delineation and mineralité as the Clos Saint-Denis at the moment. There is an attractive marine-like scent here, although it needs to muster a little more precision. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red berry fruit and in the second half, this grand cru begins to demonstrate more precision and finesse, though it never relinquishes its grip and sturdiness on the finish. It should evolve into a fine Charmes-Chambertin whose score will reside at the upper end of my band.
