The 2013 Nero d'Avola Schietto opens to a dark ruby color with plenty of succulent fruit and fiber. The bouquet exhibits ripe aromas of black cherry, dried blackberry, toasted pistachio nut and crushed anise seed. This is a mid-weight red wine from the deep south of Italy to pair with barbecued meats and spicy sausage. Some 13,000 bottles were produced.
