Considerations of candied fruit character and a slight extraneous tannic sense apply to a 2005 Nuits-St.-Georges Aux Boudots, but there is an impressively energetic, fresh-fruit vivacity as well as obvious density and sweetness. I’m looking for more complexity behind the primary fruit, but there are inner-mouth high-toned notes of herbal distillates and interesting intimations of minerality on the finish. Jerome Chezeaux had just bottled (albeit without filtration) when I visited, so allowances should be made for the possibility that the wines were suffering from this. Also recommended: 2005 Bourgogne (84), 2005 Vosne-Romanee (85+?), 2005 Nuits-St.-Georges (86+?), 2005 Nuits-St.-Georges Les Vaucrains (?).Importer: Rosenthal Wine Merchant, Pine Plains, NY; tel.
