As mentioned, there are only 45 cases of the 2001 La Farona, a southeast-facing vineyard planted at 855 meters in both sandstone and schist. It boasts tremendous density along with a Pinot Noir-like bouquet of red and black fruits intermixed with mineral and floral notes, good acidity, ripe tannin, and a structured, zesty mouthfeel. Anticipated maturity: now-2012+.
