The 2011 Brunello di Montalcino shows aromas of candied fruit and cassis that are tight and precious. This wine does not share the wide and expansive personality of many of the other Brunellos produced in this warm vintage. Instead, this expression is more introspective and timid. Those delicate berry notes are followed by cola, balsam herb and licorice root. The wine is streamlined and simple and this comes as a pleasant surprise given the much meatier and heftier characteristics of its peers.

Rich and accessible, this red offers cherry, chocolate and tobacco flavors, all supported by a moderately firm structure. Harmonious, delivering ripe tannins and fine length.
