An up and coming property, as evidenced by recent vintages, the 2001 Bourgneuf Vayron exhibits more finesse and elegance than typical for this rustic offering. A deep ruby/purple color is followed by a pronounced spicy, fragrant nose of roasted meats, licorice, and sweet red as well as black fruits. With medium to full body, loads of flavor, and more sweet tannin and upfront charm than normal, it is reminiscent of a civilized, more supple style of the famed Chateau Le Gay.
