The purple-colored 2005 Black Label Cabernet Sauvignon exhibits a nose of earth, tar, spice box, black currant, and blackberry. This leads to a medium-bodied Cabernet with plenty of savory fruit, serious depth, and impeccable balance. Already showing some complexity, it will continue to add nuance with several more years of cellaring. Drink it from 2011 to 2020. Perhaps this wine just needs some additional cellaring, as the finish is long enough to suggest promise, but this particular bottle was in a cranky stage, showing lots of toasted oak and coffee-like aromas and tart acidity.
