The 1997 Passomaggio is a straightforward, nicely-textured, medium-bodied, ripe, fruity wine with notes of cherries, earth, and spice. There is some herbaceousness and leathery qualities in the finish, which kept my score low, but this is a solid, modestly priced effort. Drink it over the next 1-2 years. The famed Italian oenologist, Giacomo Tachis, is the consultant for this project in Sicily.Importer: Empson, USA, Alexandria, VA; tel. (703) 684-0900
