The backward 1990 Cotes du Rhone-Parallele 45, a 55% Grenache and 45% Syrah blend, could benefit from another year of cellaring. The saturated, deep ruby color, and big, peppery, roasted cassis nose suggest excellent extraction of flavor. In the mouth, the wine is medium to full-bodied, with some tough tannins in the finish. I would not be in a rush to consume this impressively endowed wine. Importer: Frederick Wildman & Co., New York, NY.
