Vajra's wines are well-made, full-bodied, and powerful. The dark plum-colored 1997 Barolo exhibits a big, thick, chocolatey, licorice, cherry liqueur, smoke, camphor, and truffle-scented bouquet. This complex, opulently-textured wine possesses low acidity, superb ripeness, and a soft, unevolved personality. However, most tasters will not be able to resist its viscous style. Anticipated maturity: 2002-2016.
