Perhaps the biggest wine under the radar at the venerable Chateau Montelena is their dry, crisp Riesling. I thought the 2006 tasted of under-ripe apricots, gorgeous hints of quince, and other stone fruits. Relatively dry, fresh, and lively, this is a light to medium-bodied, pure Riesling that makes a nice aperitif. Drink it before the end of 2008.
