The 2006 Tato is 75% Cabernet Sauvignon and 25% Merlot. It shows plenty of black cherry, plum and grilled herb character, but doesn’t quite reach the level of the estate’s finest reds. The tannins could use a touch more polish as well. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2020. These are the most impressive wines across the board I have tasted from Sant’Elena.
