Showing some of the black fruit and softness of this hot and dry vintage, the 2017 Chianti Classico by Riecine still maintains its classic lines. There are moments of fleshy fruit, with blackberry preserves and cherry confit, with simple spice and savory tobacco at the back. There is a blast of sweet fruit on the close. The wine is versatile and friendly, especially if it just happened to find the company of a steaming plate of pappardelle with wild rabbit sauce. Some 40,000 bottles were made.
