The 2002 Montepulciano d’Abruzzo Spelt is a big, full-bodied wine. Floral, spiced aromatics lead to a core of raspberries intermingled with sweet toasted oak. It offers notable clarity and precision in a delicate, nuanced style. Only a little depth is missing here, but that is a function of the challenging vintage. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2012.
