The slightly sweet wine is the 2013 Moscato d'Asti, which offers up loads of pineapple, honeysuckle, peach and mango notes. The residual sugar is just sufficient to give it a nice, off-dry character and the slight effervescence provides freshness and uplift. These wines are best drunk in their first six months of life after arrival in this country, as this one should be.
The less expensive low-end wines from this excellent producer in Piedmont have revealed two reds that come from the highly prestigious sub-viticultural region of Serralunga.
