The 2005 Orma is a blend of 40% Cabernet Franc, 40% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon aged in French oak. This is a big, full-bodied offering loaded with black pepper, sweet plums, blueberries, spices, earthiness, and licorice. The wine reveals notable richness and concentration but its tannins come across as aggressive and lacking polish. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2015. Orma is the new Bolgheri project of Antonio Moretti, whom readers will recognize as the proprietor of Sette Ponti.
