This is a striking Rosso that performs radically differently from the Brunello di Montalcino made in the same vintage. That wine was closed and muted, but the 2010 Rosso di Montalcino by Il Poggione is absolutely singing. In fact, this wine is drinking beautifully right now with finely chiseled fruit sensations, crushed stone, dried lavender and balanced freshness. It delivers lots of energy and zest. This Rosso saw two months in oak for rounded edges and soft spice nuances. It also saw a final aging period in cement for better integration before going into bottle.
