The 2009 Flor de Silos also comes from Quintana del Pidio from a single parcel of 90- to 100-year-old vines, raised for 18 months in new French oak. It does not quite have the flamboyance or bravura of the 2009 Torresilos, although there are attractive coconut and rose-petal scents. The palate is medium-bodied with a sweet core of red cherries, orange zest and white pepper, while the finish is focused and shows good tension – the oak allowing the fruit to speak. It should blossom with two or three year’s more aging. Drink 2013-2018.
