The 2013 Alto Adige Valle Isarco Riesling Praepositus is not an immediately obvious wine. On first examination, the wine feels slightly weighty and the nose is accented with broad, oxidative notes. As it turns out, some 10% of the wine is made with late-harvest fruit that has dried on the vines. That process has helped the residual sugar to reach four grams per liter which is not easy to taste, but definitely comes through in terms of the richness and overall density of the mouthfeel. The wine offers lasting aromas of peach, passion fruit and candied almond.
