The 2011 Majuelos de Callejo shows much better balance and integration of the oak than the 2010. Ripe and exuberant but without falling in the overripeness trap, there are aromas of black fruit and some earthy sensations, intermixed with spices and faint echoes of smoke. There's also something lactic and it turns more balsamic in contact with air. The palate is full-throttle but in balance with ripe tannins and a slightly bittersweet finish. An XL Ribera. 15,000 bottles.
