The 2013 Coto de Hayas Garnacha Centenaria is produced from the grapes from two very old, head pruned vineyards on slate and red earth terraces on the slopes of the Cordillera Ibérica aged in barriques for four months including malolactic fermentation. It has a very commercial, attractive profile, combining ripe almost raisin-like notes of very ripe plums with something fresher, perhaps balsamic and Mediterranean herbs. The palate is medium-bodied with very polished tannins and good acidity. Pleasant, easy to drink and very good value. This is very young, you can almost feel the fresh fruit. 50,000 bottles produced.
