The 2004 Mallaura, a blend of 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Tempranillo, 15% Monastrell, and 10% Garnacha Tintoera, was aged 14 months in a mix of new and used French oak. Purple-colored, it has a stylish nose of earth, toast, black currants, and spice box. Medium to full-bodied, it has nicely layered blueberry and blackberry flavors, firm but ripe tannins, and good balance. There is enough structure for 2-3 years of further evolution although the wine can be enjoyed now.
