The saturated ruby/purple-colored 1998 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve offers up a perfumed, minty, cassis-scented nose, an elegant, finesse-styled personality, loads of black currant fruit, subtle wood, and hints of licorice and cedar. It finishes with authority as well as balance. The wine exhibits medium to full body, a sweet, pure, fruit-driven personality, and good underlying acidity as well as tannin. It is not an enormous effort by the standards of south Australia, but it is a nicely-etched, savory red. Anticipated maturity: 2004-2015.
