Caberent Sauvignon was still part of this IGT Venezia Giulia blend until 2010 when it was replaced with native red grapes for Friuli. Both Cabernets, in fact, were removed from the blend to make this more of a territory-specific wine. The 2009 Vespa Rosso shows some classic Cabernet Sauvignon green notes deep within and a point of sweetness on the close. It displays good evolution, with earthy notes and black fruit. It's a good pairing for something with grilled mushrooms.
