The entry-level 2014 Finca Resalso is 100% Tempranillo from their younger vines that matured for four months in a mixture of French and American oak barrels before bottling. It has moderate alcohol and acidity. Here they do a softer extraction compared with the Hito from Cepa 21 and the wine comes through as quite fruit-driven, with primary aromas (I asked if they used any portion of full clusters, as I got a hint of carbonic maceration, but the wine has none), cherries, raspberries, red licorice and a bare hit of spices. The palate is medium-bodied, in fact quite light, with fine, polished tannins and lowish acidity. Easy to drink. 900,000 bottles were produced.
