The 2009 Carmelo Crianza from the subzone of Pedrosa de Duero comes from 25-year-old vines and is blended with 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. It has an attractive, slightly animal-scented nose thanks to a touch of complementary brettanomyces that does not impede upon the fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with high-toned, tart red cherries and marmalade on the entry that fans out toward a crisp, orange peel-tinged finish that lingers nicely in the mouth. Fine. Drink now-2016.
