A certified organic wine, the Antonelli San Marco 2018 Montefalco Rosso Riserva is a wine I can wrap my head around and enjoy drinking with a simple steak and potatoes dinner. A blend of 80% Sangiovese and 20% Sagrantino, the fruit comes from a plot of 25-year-old vines on limestone clay soils at 350 meters in elevation. The aromas are warm, ripe and leathery for sure, but they are balanced out by dried cherry and plum. There are earthy and spicy sensations. This is a 20,000-bottle release.
