This wine, from the underrated, but potentially outstanding Livermore Valley, is remarkably full-flavored. Readers tired of so many insipid and watery California wines will not want to miss out on this terrific bargain. The 1989 Chardonnay from Livermore Valley is a big, full-bodied, concentrated, rich wine. Exuberant and fleshy, with plenty of buttery, apple-like fruit, as well as a subtle touch of oak, this excellent Chardonnay (at a bargain-basement price) should make highly enjoyable drinking for at least another year. This is amont the best wines I have yet to taste from this winery founded by Ivan Tamas and Steve Mirassou in 1984.
