The 2016 Mathilde from La Fleur Morange showed a touch of reduction, but I found more complex fruit underneath compared to the regular cuvee. The palate is medium-bodied with furry tannin, low acidity, here, a little pushed in the winery and it is just missing some complexity and tension on the finish that feels dominated by wood tannins.

This is really succulent and beautiful with layers of ripe plums and hints of chocolate on the palate. Full body, round and velvety tannins and a long and flavorful finish. Luxurious merlot. Try after 2022.
