The Marsanne-dominated 2009 St.-Peray Le Mialan possesses crisp honeysuckle, white corn, crushed rock and floral notes as well as zesty acidity and a distinctive minerality. Medium-bodied, fresh and lively, this delicious white should be enjoyed over the next several years. Ferraton’s parent company, Chapoutier, has done an excellent job in St.-Peray working with Marsanne and Roussanne. This long-forgotten appellation may turn out to be the Northern Rhone’s white wine answer to Burgundy’s Chablis.
