Starting with their straight Cabernet Release, the 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon is an outstanding blend of 78% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Franc and 6% Petit Verdot. It has classic blackcurrant, tobacco leaf and earthy qualities in its full-bodied profile, and it stays lively and fresh, with notable purity of fruit. It will evolve gracefully for upward of a decade.
The Daou brothers continue to focus on Bordeaux varieties from their estate that’s located high up off of Peachy Canyon Road. Across the board, these wines show fantastic purity of fruit, excellent concentration, and rich, textured personalities that never seem heavy or over-the-top. These are highly recommended and show the quality that’s possible from Bordeaux varieties in Paso Robles.
