This wine (14.8% alcohol) exhibits a dense, dark ruby/purple color, a big, dusty, pepper-tinged, cherry liqueur-scented nose, and full-bodied, multi-layered flavors with plenty of muscle and length. This viscous wine saturates the palate, and finishes with notes of earth and jammy fruit. Drink it over the next 4-5 years for its exuberance and fiery character. (Readers should note that the 1996 Cooke Vineyard is sold only at the winery's tasting room.)
