From a parcel nestled between Batard-Montrachet and Bernard Morey’s piece of Chassagne-Montrachet Vide-Bourse, the 2001 Chassagne-Montrachet Les Encegnieres has a spice-laden nose (in a typically Burgundian effort to make life simple for consumers, this vineyard, which borders Puligny’ Enseigneres, is spelled differently but pronounced in exactly the same manner). Cookie dough and spiced pears can be found in its lush, friendly, suave character. This deep, light to medium-bodied wine has excellent breadth, depth, and length. Projected maturity: now-2008.
