The 2003 Irpinia Aglianico Raiano is a beautiful, harmonious offering. Nothing in particular stands out, and some readers might prefer a little more varietal definition, yet the wine possesses superb balance in a round style that is unusual for Aglianico at this level. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2011. Villa Raiano makes a wide variety of wines, but I only found a handful that merit close attention.
