The Serenade vineyard is located in Agrelo in Luján de Cuyo and was planted in 1935. The 2012 Malbec Serenade fermented in concrete vats and matured in new French barriques for 12 months. None of these wines show signs of oak, the wine has breathed through the pores of the oak and has softened its texture, but it doesn't smell of oak as wines matured in new barrels often do. That speaks to the quality and intensity of the fruit here, the quality of the barrels and possibly about the savoir faire of the winemaker since managing the aging in oak is still one of the open issues in so many places of Argentina, Chile or Spain. There is a beautiful nose here, with intoxicating aromas of violets, some spices and aromatic herbs with an earthy, mineral background. The palate is full-bodied with glossy tannins and very good freshness. 4,852 bottles produced.
