As brilliant a winemaker as Yves Cuilleron is with respect to white wines, his reds remain largely mediocre. Both the 1994 and 1995 Cote Rotie Coteau de Bassenon are dominated by wood, without sufficient fruit and extract to balance out the wine's wood, tannin, and structure.
