The 2010 Montepulciano d’Abruzzo Cerasuolo Pie delle Vigne emerges from the glass with black cherries, smoke, tobacco, incense and earthiness. Although medium in body, this is a deceptive Cerasuolo with considerable darkness. The 2010 has more than enough complexity and underlying structure to stand up to fairly rich and hearty foods. At the risk of sounding like a broken record, this is another great showing from Cataldi Madonna. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2020.
