The 2008 Cerasuolo Pie delle Vigne is a delicious rose that was aged in steel, then spent two years in bottle, which is quite unusual as it results in a wine that shows development yet also remains quite fresh. Tobacco, cherries, flowers and leather are just some of the myriad aromas and flavors that take shape in this quirky yet beautiful Cerasuolo. The long finish is undeniably distinct. Anticipated maturity: 2011-2014. Cataldi Madonna is a great source for delicious wines from Abruzzo. I tend to gravitate towards the lower end of the spectrum, where most of the best values lie.Importer: Vias Imports, New York, NY; tel. (212) 629-0200
