Collosorbo has produced another lovely wine with its terrific 2001 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva. This supple, accessible Brunello offers sweet red cherries, plums, earthiness, smoke, menthol, flowers and spices, with silky tannins and a pretty core of inner sweetness that carries through to the finish. Loads of spicy new oak, with ripe cherry and plum character. Full-bodied, with fine tannins and a long, caressing finish. Lots of new wood, which should be less obvious in a couple of years.
