The limited selection luxury cuvee (less than 100 cases), the 2001 Shiraz Somerville, is fabulous. An inky/ruby/purple color is accompanied by sumptuous aromas of blackberry liqueur, sweet espresso roast, white chocolate, melted licorice, and a subtle notion of oak. A Shiraz with a Type A personality: Big and brash on the nose, with enthusiastic, forward flavors on the palate. Up front, it smells like marzipan, toast, raspberry and blackberry, and similar notes ring true in the mouth. Finishes pretty long, with a biscuit or cracker-like flavor. Very tasty.
