The star of the show is the 2013 Crozes Hermitage Roche Pierre. Coming all from granite terroirs and aged 24 months in barrel, its inky purple color is followed by classic granite-induced minerality, powdered rock, crème de cassis, and creosote-like aromas and flavors. Medium to full-bodied, concentrated and structured, with bright acidity and notable tannin, it will need a handful of years in the cellar but will have two decades of longevity. It’s easily one of the top wines in the appellation.
