The 2016 Clos Saint Denis Grand Cru, of which there is just over three barrels, has a very crisp and poised blackberry, briary and pressed flower-scented bouquet that unfolds in the glass, revealing lovely mineral tones with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with stemmy notes on the entry (there is some whole bunch here) but there is great freshness and vitality on the finish. This works much better than the Charmes-Chambertin barrel sample, demonstrating more cohesion and finesse.
