The 2008 Rosso Piceno is a pleasant, fruity red to drink over the next few years. This cask-aged blend of 70% Sangiovese and 30% Montepulciano offers good length and lovely balance at this level, with pretty floral notes that linger on the finish. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2011. Saladini Pilastri is an excellent source for tasty, value-priced wines. The Marche remains one of Italy’s least-known regions, and that means readers can essentially drink everything up to this producer’s top wines without spending princely sums.
