The dark ruby/purple-colored 1995 is medium-bodied, with elegant, jammy cherry/kirsch-like flavors that are sweet, round, and generous. There is no sense of heaviness or excessive alcohol in this well-made, savory, mouthfilling Chateauneuf du Pape that should continue to drink well for 10-12 years.
This small 10-acre estate is well-situated on Chateauneuf du Pape's plateau, behind the ruins of the Papal Palace. The cellars are further north in the village of Piolenc, the "Garlic Capital" of France. This estate deserves more attention, but the tiny production of only 1,700 cases of red wine insures that most of it is sold to private clients.
