Readers looking for a fragrant St.-Emilion-like California red should check out the Anderson’s Eloge cuvee (usually 800 cases produced). The 2000 Eloge (63% Cabernet Sauvignon, 27% Cabernet Franc, 7% Merlot, and 3% Petit Verdot) possesses the vintage’s short finish (which kept my score low), but the aromatics are top flight. Scents of cigar smoke, new saddle leather, spice box, menthol, and black as well as red currants are present in this medium-bodied 2000. The attack is ripe, but the finish is short and tannic. Tel.
