The dense ruby/purple-colored 1999 Bombereto is a seriously-endowed offering with abundant quantities of strawberry and black cherry fruit. Half of this cuvee is aged in French barrels, of which one-third are new, and the rest in larger foudres. This gives the wine good structure, but no noticeable pain grille, toasty notes. This ripe, layered, concentrated, impressive Italian red should drink well for 10-12 years.
