A better wine than the 1982 that has held up with cellaring, the 1983 Shafer Cabernet Sauvignon Hillside Select exhibits a dark garnet color as well as dusty, loamy soil, old oak, coffee, redcurrant and plum fruit notes, plenty of spice and a subtle hint of herbs.
