An introduction to this style is their 2005 Chateauneuf du Pape, which is not 100% Roussanne but has a strong Roussanne component along with the other white varietals from the appellation. A floral nose is followed by a medium to full-bodied personality with fresh notes of honeysuckle and tropical fruit. It is quite crisp, refreshing, and ideal for drinking over the next 2-3 years. Readers have to distinguish between the negociant wines of Alain Jaume, which are under the label “Alain Jaume,” and his estate wines, which appear under the “Grand Veneur” label. In both cases the quality is extremely high and unlike many estates where prices have dramatically soared over recent vintages, Grand Veneur’s proprietor, Alain Jaume, continues to offer very fair value for the quality.Importer: Kysela Pere et Fils, Winchester, VA; tel.
