Williams-Selyem’s 2001 Pinot Noir Ferrington Vineyard exhibits a lovely nose of raspberries and blueberries in its medium-bodied, elegant, stylish, pure personality. Wild mountain fruit characteristics are supported by a well-defined wine offering a hint of minerals, good sweetness, firm tannin, and decent acidity. It should drink well for 5-6 years. Seems like a textbook Pinot from this appellation, with its jammy, forward cherry and raspberry scent enriched with mocha and hints of dried herbs and dust. It’s very big in the mouth, a sunburst of cherry flavors wrapped in fairly heavy tannins. Should improve through 2007. ——S.H.(5/1/2004)—— 89
