The 2010 Syrah White Hawk Vineyard is a blend of 97% Syrah and 3% Viognier that comes all from the top-notch White Hawk Vineyard. Locked and loaded with massive black fruits, chalky minerality, chocolate, pepper and bramble qualities on the nose, it is full-bodied, rich and long, with chewy tannin providing solid framework for the finish. As with most of Russell’s 2010s, it will be even better in another year or two and shine for just under a decade. Drink 2014-2020.
Russell From continues to release a bevy of smoking wines under his Herman Story label. His wines never lack for fruit or texture, yet to me, always stay beautifully balanced and downright thrilling to drink. In addition, these 2010s and 2011s are some of the more restrained efforts he’s released. Keep an open mind and check these wine out!
